Overview

I worked with The Celebration of Film Society to create their logo and branding, along with the visual identity for their first festival, IndieFest. My role included logo design, business cards, and festival branding assets that would help the society establish credibility and attract an audience.

The Challenge

As a new non-profit organization, the society needed a professional identity that reflected both its locality in Celebration, Florida, and its mission to bring independent film to the community. At the same time, the organizers wanted IndieFest! to stand on its own as a playful and vibrant event, untethered from the society’s logo. The challenge was to balance these two identities: one rooted in professional credibility, and the other in energetic celebration.

The Approach

Drawing inspiration from cinema history and the character of Florida itself, I designed the society’s logo around an orange peel motif. The mark was crafted to resemble both a film strip and a streamer—capturing the dual essence of cinema and celebration. For IndieFest!, the festival branding was developed with more freedom, leaning into a playful energy that could excite and engage audiences. I collaborated closely with the founders and organizers throughout the process to ensure both identities aligned with their vision.

The Outcome

The branding gave the society a polished presence that communicated legitimacy while allowing the festival’s identity to take on a life of its own. For the organizers, it was an essential step in raising visibility and credibility for their programming. For me, it was a rewarding experience working alongside a passionate non-profit group—one that valued the role design played in bringing their vision to life.
